Destruction of my Home #2,410

A pre-child purchase of ours was a big over sized leather chair for our family room. It is an okay chair with a matching ottoman. It is made out of a really soft leather that shows marks and a lot of distress. That is fine. However, had I known that one day I would have little boys that would use their fingernails (or Tinker Toys) to scratch Tic Tac Toe games into my chair, I would have reconsidered. Very annoying...

What is more annoying is when they scratch their name into the chair and then lie about who did it. Uh, boys, I recognize your handwriting! They have not become so clever that they forge another's name on the chair. Yet.

And if that wasn't bad enough...

I had to go behind the chair to clean something (shocking) and found this lovely picture scratched into the backside of the chair.

It has probably been back there for a long time, but I don't clean too often as you can imagine. I work hard to buff out the stuff on the arms of the chair.

This one is not coming out.

OH NO! I really can not imagine what was going through your mind when you found that. Bless your heart. At least it was the back!

I have to say I laughed out loud at your post title. I understand, and my boys are younger than yours, so I am sure I am in for it. We *had* a leather la-z-boy that I knew was not in good hands, and when one of my former HS students helped us move a few years ago, I gave it to him. He was extremely happy. I didn't bother to tell him that my dad's cat used it as a litter box, which is why he gave it to us. The kid was taking it to his dorm room, so I'm guessing cat pee was probably the least of that chair's worries. ;)

oh man!!!!My husband would flip out! I dont' think he understands the future destruction that our kids will wreck on our house. Last month Joshua stabbed our kitchen table with a fork over and over...I felt sick to my stomach for a minute, then relized it could be much worse. Like your chair.

OH NO! For as frustrated as this must make you, you probably don't even fight it anymore, knowing "destruction of household items" comes along with the territory of raising small children.

Seriously. If anyone walked around my house, every single wall, floorboard, piece of furniture (and anything else you can think of!) has either been broken, written on, peed on, food stained or whatever other "destruction" comes to mind...

Oh, what a true to life post!! Little kids DO bring "destruction" with them!!

But...Yikes!! I am so sorry about your chair though...not fun to find these little "moments" of destruction!!! I too am glad that it was on the back!!!
